Francis was born in Assisi, Italy, in 1182, as the son of Peter Bernardone and Picca. He received his primary education at the local St. George’sChurch. At the age of fourteen, he joined his father’s business as a merchant.He enjoyed music and dance and was very popular among his friends. At seventeen, he was drawn into civil war in the city.
As a young man, Francis lived a life of comfort and pleasure, but his experiences during the war and subsequent imprisonment brought a deep transformation within him. He began to question the purpose of his life and gradually turned away from worldly desires. Choosing a path of simplicity and humility, Francis devoted himself to serving the poor and the sick. His profound love for nature and all living beings reflected his belief in universal brotherhood and peace.
Francis later founded the Franciscan Order, which emphasized poverty, compassion, and selfless service. His teachings inspired countless followers to lead lives rooted in faith and kindness.
